Ester Fumagalli

In this area there are various roses dedicated to personalities from the world of roses, including some experts who have followed the Association since its foundation.

Among these is the rose dedicated to Ester Fumagalli, wife of the founder of the A.I.R. Niso and President until 2008, created by Febo Giuseppe Cazzaniga. It is a hybrid of tea with a stiff stem and large triangular buds, a fleshy, white, slightly fragrant flower. She won the Most Beautiful Italian Rose Award in 1975.

Ester Fumagalli has always shared with her husband Niso the love for roses and the passion in creating the Rose Garden. When he passed away in 1990, she became President of the Association guiding it with her knowledge and commitment until 2008.

She continued in the tradition of her husband in the choice of prominent personalities in the role of Hostess of the Trials: among others the Medicine Nobel Prize Rita Levi Montalcini, the actress Sandra Mondaini, the étoiles of the Scala Oriella Dorella and Luciana Savignano, ski champions such as Manuela di Centa and Deborah Compagnoni, writers such as Dacia Maraini and Maria Venturi. With all of them she managed to establish a relationship of great sympathy and cordiality.

She left us in 2020 accompanied by the admiration, esteem and gratitude of the many people who had the pleasure of meeting her and working with her for the Rose Garden.
